The Slip Trailed Pottery

Studio location #3. 3181 Diamondview Road, Kinburn.

Teresa grew up in the picturesque New Forest, in rural Southern England.
She first discovered clay in the garden as a child & loved the sticky slippery texture, this led to a lifelong fascination.
Her training as a Potter was in England and she is influenced by Old English Slipware, the Arts & Craft movement, Ancient Persia, and Textile Patterns.
Now with over 40 years’ experience she is still excited by the process of developing new patterns and experiments with modern ceramic materials, whilst still maintaining the “new antique” appearance of her pieces.
Using an age-old decorating technique called Slip trailing, Teresa pipes colored liquid clay onto her damp wheel thrown pots which achieves her beautifully intricate and slightly raised patterns. The pots are fired to 1200c in an electric kiln and while highly decorative and widely collected, her pottery is food safe, microwave and dishwasher proof.

Please enjoy the sunken garden on your visit!
