Teresa trained as a Potter in England, through further education at College, Art school & an apprenticeship, then she opened her own studio in Brook, a little village in Hampshire, UK.
Moving to Canada in 1988 was exciting but also a learning curve as the new world materials were different, it took a lot of testing & finding the right clay, plus adapting to being in a suburban basement studio.
10 years later she & her husband built a house in rural Ottawa and a separate studio with a wonderful view, which continually inspires new growth in her work.

Her work has a ‘new antique’ aesthetic & shows influences are from historic English Slipware, William Morris, Ancient Persia, Folk Art and Textile designs from Medieval through to current day.
She also enjoys the process of developing new designs each season by using her interpretation of the patterns she finds in nature or even in the fabric of someone’s dress or handbag!

Teresa’s decorating technique is called Slip Trailing, she mixes her own slips from dry clay, incorporating oxides and underglazes.
This colored liquid clay is piped on to her damp wheel thrown pots, creating beautifully intricate and slightly raised colorful patterns.
When fully dry, the pots are fired twice in an electric kiln (bisque & glaze).

While highly decorative & tactile, her pots are functional, a joy to admire & use, food safe, microwave and oven proof.

Her rural Kinburn Studio is open to visit by appointment as are her gardens.
