Jill’s Embossing Art

Originally her creating was and still is in pottery, carving in clay was compelling. Jill became interested in metal embossing after attending a workshop. Afterwards, it seemed to be a natural progression of her creative journey. The metal is very receptive to texture and design and has opened up another world of creative ideas for her.
Jill makes wall hanging ready metal embossed art. Various media are used such as aluminum, copper or painted aluminum sheets. Special embossing tools are used on both sides of the metal sheets to create different levels of embossing (lifting the metal). Other tools include stencils, molds and free hand drawing to create unique designs. Lately colour has been introduced which presents new challenges but opens up a new path in the creative journey.
Living in a rural setting provides ample opportunities to observe and photograph nature throughout the seasons and has become a huge source of inspiration in Jill’s art.
