As a teenager, Cheryl studied at the Montreal Museum School of Art, followed by a short period in an entry level position in a commercial art studio.  Subsequently she pursued a career in international environmental policy, retiring in 2016.  Introduced to printmaking in 2018, she was instantly drawn to linocut and drypoint. She loves all forms and stages of the process especially creating multiple layer reduction linocuts. In recent years she as added acrylic painting and coloured pencil drawings to her inventory. Her focus is largely on the wildlife, plants and birds of the upper Ottawa valley, where she and her husband have lived for nearly forty years, with a succession of Australian Shepherd dogs and Norwegian Fjord horses.  Like so many artists, nature is her deepest connection and source of comfort.

Recently she has prepared a series of reference photos printed on canvas which reflect many of the landscapes and botanical images that info her printmaking, waiting and drawing. She sees her work as a way to promote an awareness of the importance of preserving our local and global biodiversity in a world where human activity and climate change are threatening the survival of so many species.
