Kathy Wildgen is a fused glass artist creating at Torwood Studios in Dunrobin, where she transforms glass into vibrant, nature-inspired works. Influenced by her garden, the Ottawa River, and the surrounding landscape, her abstract interpretations of trees and flowers celebrate colour, texture, and light. Using an eclectic approach, Kathy combines a variety of fused glass techniques—including enamels, powders, stringers, and cut glass—to create distinctive pieces that reflect the beauty and energy of the natural world.
At TorwoodStudios, the fusible glass is cut to shape and size it. It is then decorated using a multitude of materials (ie frit, stringers, slurry, enamels) and techniques. It is then put into a kiln and heated to a temperatures ranges from 700-850 degrees to soften or liquify the glass into one.
