Shiny Things by Roxanne

Studio location #6. 273 Riverwood Drive, McLaren’s Landing.

Roxanne is a glass artist based in rural west Ottawa. Since 2014, she has followed her passion for glass after taking her first class on how to make glass beads.
Roxanne is largely self taught, but has taken numerous courses with glass artists including Karina Guévin, Jana Filípkova, Hayley Tsang Sather, Jeri Warhaftig, and Caterina Zucchi. Both Karina and Caterina have heavily influenced her work, especially in glass blowing.

Another major influence for Roxanne’s work is her love of nature and travel. This has led her to an organic approach, relying heavily on shape, texture and colour, to create one-of-a-kind glass art and jewelry. Roxanne has also been working with Borosilicate glass to create glass chains, as well as more sculptural work. She has taken courses in silversmithing and is enjoying combining these two art forms in her work.
