John Chamney
John Chamney, Woodturner
Guest at Studio #4. 3028 Stoneridge Rd, Dunrobin
John turned his first project on the lathe when he was in high school shop class. His second project did not begin until after he had retired. In 2005 he bought a lathe and found his passion.
Always a lover of wood, he uses mostly local woods (occasionally with some exotic pieces added for colour) to make items which are both useful and beautiful. His work can be found in homes all across Canada and in Europe and Australia.
Each piece of work by John Chamney displayed in Carleton Place Gallery is one-of-a-kind.
Made from locally sourced burls, they display the unique properties of these beautiful pieces of wood.
